Seeing that we are
the ones who left the Kokshoorn and Duran families behind by coming to
Australia in 1957

except the following:
On arriving
in Australia and working among Australians I soon found out
that it was very difficult for them to pronounce my name Rinus or Marinus.
So I started to use the name Michael or Mike.
It became the norm and
I got so use to it that I even signed official documents as Michael Harold
Duran.
This resulted in an embarrassing situation some 30 years later. It was a
case were I was opening a new Bank Account and I filled all the forms in
as
Michael Harold Duran but when I had to give prove of my identity I
could only produce my drivers licence in the name of Marinus Hendricus Duran.
It
was then that I decided to make the change legal by Deed Poll and on the 12th of
May 1993 it became official and from that moment on
I was Michael Harold Duran
instead of Marinus Hendricus Duran.
